The Distance Education Department of School of Continuing Education, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics was established in Sep 2008. It aims to provide the other departments of the school with technical computer support and focuses on the technical development of distance teaching. The diploma education of the school adopts teaching methods of “Classroom teaching” and “online study”. “Online Study” enables students to choose the right courseware so that they can study online anytime and anywhere. The computer system offers students ideal study environment with its distance website, self-study guidance and electronic reading. In the online community they raise questions and get answers from teachers or teaching assistants. Relevant organization, guidance, coordination and control involved in teaching are carried our on the net. The monitoring system makes it possible for administrators to keep trace on student’s online study and record the frequency and duration of time of each visit through the visiting journal of the web service in order to supervise the students study. Students can also choose to attend classes while study online.
