The School of Continuing Education (SCE) of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE) is a secondary college under SUFE. In recent years, by aiming at “Be excellent in diploma education and be stronger in high-end training”, SCE has done a great deal and developed into a continuing education base of a certain scale to include training programs for the government, businesses, different tests and examinations, professional education, evening college and self-taught examinations for higher education, which is varied in form and level, complete in system, and sound in management organization with its well-equipped teaching facilities and high standards of teaching.

The past few years have seen SCE’s intensified reform to meet the national strategy and social responsibility by keeping pace with the times and making innovations in a pioneering spirit. These reforms involve enhancing marketing efforts to have more non-academic training programs and improving institutional mechanisms to gradually form a more perfect system prioritizing non-academic training activities mainly for the government, businesses, different examinations and professional education. Now SCE’s business is throughout more than twenty provinces and regions within the country. Meanwhile, SCE has done a lot to build a credit system for academic education and vocational education by combining credit and qualification courses. Apart from its domestic programs, SCE is working actively to tap business abroad with better international exchanges and cooperation, thus helping to promote its competitiveness and equipping executives from different organizations with better understanding of the world economy.

By the end of 2010, SCE has 88 staff, among which 17 are full-time teachers and 71 are managerial personnel. SCE’s success in its development has well carried forward SUFE’s concept of marching with the times, pursuing excellence and governing the country by economy. SCE is making greater contribution in building a lifelong education system and earning society by creating a first-class education and training brand.
